PortVision ® expands coverage to major ports nationwide
- Web-based tool to operate in top 20 U.S. ports by end of year -
SAN DIEGO – July 9, 2007 – PortVision ® , a web-based information service providing real-time visibility to commercial vessel activities, announced today expanded services to major ports on both the East and West Coasts of the US.
PortVision now serves maritime customers throughout New England and New York, along the Gulf Coast from Mobile west to Corpus Christi, in southern and central California, and in the Seattle area.
“PortVision's comprehensive use of interactive maps, animated playback, and data analytics provides anyone working with vessels or in the maritime industry unprecedented transparency to key commercial vessel activities,” said Dean Rosenberg, CEO of PortVision. “From our initial success along the Gulf Coast in reducing cost and enhancing safety and security, we are now expanding coverage to most of the other most active US waterways and expect to be in all major U.S. ports, and several international waterways before the end of this year.”
The system converts existing, federally-mandated, collision avoidance signals into usable information for mapping, alerting and reporting purposes while increasing subscribers' maritime domain awareness. Users log on to PortVision and conduct easy, “Google-like” searches by vessel name, terminal name, call sign or International Maritime Organization (IMO) number to show the current status of any ship or terminal operation. Its simple, on-line alerting capability allows subscribers to receive real-time alerts via e-mail or cell phone text message.
