Port and Maritime Security Online

American Journal of Port and Maritime Security

Welcome to the American Journal or Port and Maritime Security webpage. In Winter, 2007, we will launch the quarterly journal presenting academic papers on port and maritime security issues. In addition, literature reviews of books, reports, and papers on relevant topics will also be included.

We encourage professors, students, those working in the port and maritime industry, or anyone else involved with port and maritime security to submit papers and literature reviews for consideration. Send submissions to pmso@pmso.net

Those who would like to submit a paper for review should follow the guidelines below.

Cover Letter: Submissions should include a cover letter with the authors contact information as well as educational and/or career background. Cover Letters should also include an abstract of the author's paper which includes hypothesis, methodology, results, and conclusion.

Content: Content of submitted papers should be directly related to port and maritime security issues. Submissions will be evaluated based on methodology, strength of argument, originality of research, and relevance of analysis.

Length: Submitted articles should be between 10 and 30 pages in length. Papers longer than 30 pages may be submitted, but the authors should expect the paper to be revised and/or cropped for publication.

Format: The Journal requires that all papers follow the Modern Language Association (MLA) format. Submissions should use Times New Roman 12-point font, be double-spaced, and in MS Word. Graphs, tables, and pictures should be part of the Word document. Separate documents will not be accepted.

Citations: In-text citations should be used in submissions, including the year and author. Page numbers are required for direct quotations and footnotes should be used for pertinent explanations and comments.
